Localisation

What is Localisation?

It is essential to understand that localisation involves more than just
translating the words in a document.

In simple terms it means that during the translation and DTP process, local linguistic styles, formatting styles and conventions must be observed.

This could be something as simple as changing the format of a date for example: the date format for UK English would be 22/1/04, but for US English it would be 1/22/04, or a more complex issue such as making sure the language and format
of a software package reflect the current cultural and industry standards.
