A ‘fragant’ use of translation

We work with some very well-known advertising agencies and as happens frequently within this industry, people come and people go, taking their talents with them in a huge cross pollination of creativity from one agency to another.

This is what happened with a gentleman we knew from one large German advertising agency. We had built up such a strong working relationship with him, when he chose to join Gröpper & Bonum near Frankfurt, he took us with him as his preferred (and only) creative translation agency.

The Noblis Group own a number of fragrance brands such as Paul Smith, Jimmy Choo and Burberry and have been using Gröpper & Bonum as their chosen advertising agency for the last couple of years. Frequently they ask for their website texts to be creatively localised into other languages and naturally G&B then come to us.

How we answered the brief

Near the beginning of the year we had a flurry of regular requests to translate Noblis texts from German into English. This ranged from a few paragraphs to full page web copy. All the German texts sent to us were written in a creative style and it was up to our translators to accurately interpret the tonality of the original German as something which would appeal to the English market. Texts for Jimmy Choo and Burberry flooded in, all for upload to the Noblis Group website.

Files were provided in raw HTML code which our translators were able to translate diretcly into. This made it incredibly easy for G&B’s designers when updating the website with our new texts.

The results

Our expert translators worked hard to make sure the essence and meaning of the original German texts was kept intact and after having them proofread by a second equally qualified translator meant they were perfect for delivery. Noblis were extremely happy with G&B for not only an exceptional website design, but also for a great set of translations.

It is in this way Living Word has been responsible for helping to make sure Noblis fragrances and perfumes sold throughout the UK are on brand and consistent with the rest of their worldwide marketing agenda.

So next time you splash on some Jimmy Choo, you know what to do….think of Living Word!
