This, rather trippy, Bollywood movie clip has recently been going viral on social media. You may have already seen it and wondered what exactly it’s all about?
Well, the clip is from the 1985 fantasy movie Adavi Donga, made specifically for Telugu cinema, a strand of the Indian cinema industry that produces films in the Telugu language. The song is called “Idhi Oka Nandanavanam” and in true low budget style, the whole thing looks like it’s been produced on a dime but there’s something catchy, almost magical and entrancing about it.
The movie is the story of our hero, Chiranjeevi, who is abandoned in a forest as a child and raised by an elephant and other animals.
Years later, Chiranjeevi meets Radha, the heroine, and saves her as she and her friends are attacked in the forest by poachers. Within a short while they fall in love.
The plot centres around Chiranjeevi and Radha saving animals from hunters, finding Chiranjeevi’s long lost mother, his fight against criminals and, of course, plenty of Bollywood dancing to boot!
It’s one of those things you’ll never forget you’ve seen!
